Cecily Wang is an artist, writer, and surgeon based in Hawai‘i. Her work moves along the edges between chaos and calm, shaped by years in trauma surgery and intensive care medicine. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, and raised in the United States, she sees both art and medicine as ways of noticing—of holding still long enough to see what matters.

She has served on medical missions across the Pacific and beyond with Aloha Medical Mission, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), and other relief groups. Those experiences continue to shape the quiet realism and layered humanity of her creative work.

Her books include No Crying in the Operating Room and Quadrant: A Story of the Mover, the Martyr, the Monster, and the Mirror. When she’s not in the hospital or the studio, she’s often between flights, pen and notebook in hand, tracing stories in the spaces where people and ideas meet.
